Prevention & Education

  • Prevention
At New Concepts, our Prevention Program is designed to empower youth and families with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to make healthy choices and build resilience before serious challenges arise. Rooted in evidence-based practices, our prevention services focus on reducing the risk of substance use and behavioral health concerns by promoting emotional well-being, positive decision-making, and strong connections.

We deliver prevention programming in schools, community centers, and family settings, reaching youth in environments where early support can have the greatest impact. Our approach is interactive, age-appropriate, and culturally responsive, helping young people develop self-awareness, confidence, and coping strategies.
    Program components may include:
    • Substance use prevention education.
    • Social-emotional learning and life skills training.
    • Peer leadership and mentoring opportunities.
    • Parent and caregiver workshops.
    • Community events and outreach.
    • Collaboration with schools, law enforcement, and local organizations.
By addressing risk factors early and building on individual and community strengths, the Prevention Program helps lay the foundation for long-term health, academic success, and positive youth development.

    Early Intervention Class
New Concepts offers an Early Intervention Class designed for individuals who are at risk of developing substance use issues or have had an initial encounter with the legal system, school discipline, or concerning behavior related to alcohol or drug use.

This short-term educational program focuses on increasing awareness, building decision-making skills, and preventing the progression of risky behaviors. It is ideal for those who may not meet the criteria for clinical treatment but would benefit from structured support and guidance.
Key components of the class include:
    • Early Intervention.
    • Exploration of personal values, goals, and consequences.
    • Skill-building in communication, peer pressure resistance, and self-regulation.
    • Motivational activities to encourage behavior change.
    • Opportunities for reflection and personal accountability.
Classes are facilitated by trained professionals in a supportive, non-judgmental environment and may be offered in group settings over several sessions. Participation can be voluntary or court/school-referred as part of diversion or prevention programming.

The Early Intervention Class is a proactive step that empowers individuals to make informed, healthier choices before patterns of substance use become deeply rooted.
