Behavioral Health Services

  • Assessments and Referrals
At New Concepts, all assessments are conducted by highly qualified, licensed clinicians to ensure a professional and compassionate approach to care. A comprehensive assessment helps determine how behavioral health challenges may affect an individual's life.

This assessment serves as the foundation for recommending the most appropriate level of care, either within New Concepts or, when necessary, through a trusted partner agency. Individuals may be referred to various services, including outpatient counseling, group support, or specialized treatment programs.

Assessments are available during walk-in hours, Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Assessments may also be scheduled at times that accommodate individual needs and availability. Our goal is to meet each individual where they are and connect them with the care that best supports their path to wellness.

    Office Hours:
    Monday–Thursday: 8:30 AM–7:00 PM
  • Psychiatry Services
Our outpatient psychiatric services are expertly designed to meet the unique needs of each individual. With a dedicated team of experienced psychiatrists and skilled psychiatric nurse practitioners, we deliver high-quality care that truly makes a difference.

We are proud to offer a wide range of psychiatric services accessible to all clients, including youth. Our commitment to fostering a supportive environment ensures that every person receives the understanding and care they deserve.
  • Individual Counseling
Counseling is a collaborative process that helps access deeper insight into their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. With the support of a licensed behavioral health professional, explore the root causes of emotional challenges while learning and practicing effective, evidence-based coping strategies.

Through this process, individuals can shift unhelpful thought patterns, improve emotional regulation, and develop healthier behaviors. Counseling provides a supportive environment for growth, healing, and lasting change.

At New Concepts, our experienced team of licensed social workers and professional counselors is trained in a wide range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, including:
    • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
    • Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET).
    • Solution-Focused Therapy.
    • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
    • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT).
    • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).
    • Interpersonal Psychotherapy.
    • Group Therapy.
    • Family Systems Therapy.
    • Trauma-Responsive Care.
  • Care Coordination
At New Concepts, our Care Coordination Services are designed to ensure that every individual receives seamless, person-centered support across all aspects of their care. Our care coordinators work closely with clients, families, and service providers to connect individuals with the resources they need to achieve stability, recovery, and long-term wellness.
    Care coordination includes:
    • Individualized service planning based on each client’s unique needs and goals.
    • Connection to community resources, including medical care, housing, education, employment, and legal support.
    • Collaboration with schools, healthcare providers, and other agencies to ensure continuity of care.
    • Support with navigating systems such as Medicaid, social services, and behavioral health treatment.
    • Advocacy and guidance to empower clients in making informed decisions.
By bridging gaps in services and reducing barriers to access, our care coordination team helps clients stay engaged in treatment, meet their goals, and build a stronger foundation for long-term success.
  • Youth Services
New Concepts provides a continuum of care that offers therapeutic interventions in the least restrictive and most natural environment for youth ages three and up. Each level of care delivers comprehensive, person-centered services tailored to address significant behavioral health needs that may impair a young person's ability to function at home, school, or in the community. Outpatient services are available in various settings, including the office, home, school, and community, delivering holistic, trauma-responsive, evidence-based treatment in the young person's most familiar environment.

    School-Based Care
New Concepts provides school-based behavioral health services to support the emotional well-being and academic success of students directly within their learning environments. By placing licensed behavioral health professionals and therapeutic behavioral supports in schools, we offer convenient, accessible care that reduces barriers for children, adolescents, and families who may otherwise face challenges accessing traditional outpatient services.
    Our school-based services include:
    • Individual counseling and emotional support.
    • Crisis intervention and safety planning.
    • Group therapy and skill-building sessions.
    • Coordination with school staff, families, and outside providers.
    • Referrals to additional services, support, and resources as needed.
These services are designed to help students build resilience, manage stress, improve social-emotional skills, and cope with challenges such as anxiety, trauma, behavioral concerns, or family issues. We work in close collaboration with school personnel to create supportive, inclusive environments where students can thrive both emotionally and academically.

By integrating mental health services into the school setting, New Concepts ensures that students receive timely, consistent support—right where they need it most.

    Extended School Break Services
New Concepts offers continued services during extended school breaks—including winter, spring, and summer—to ensure consistency of care and support for youth. Students enrolled in our school-year programs can transition seamlessly into break-time programming, maintaining their progress without interruption.

These programs are also available to youth who may benefit from daily structure and therapeutic engagement during times when school is not in session. Designed to help prevent emotional, educational, or behavioral setbacks, our extended break services provide a supportive and enriching environment.

Programming includes a blend of indoor and outdoor activities in a natural setting, fostering social-emotional growth, peer connection, and structured routines within a therapeutic milieu. Our goal is to ensure that each child continues to receive the care and consistency they need to thrive year-round.

    Day Treatment
New Concepts’ Day Treatment programs are designed to support children and adolescents ages 8 to 17 who have a diagnosed behavioral health condition and are experiencing moderate to severe emotional distress and significant challenges in daily functioning.

These highly structured, intensive programs provide a concentrated level of therapeutic intervention over a relatively short period, helping youth stabilize, build coping skills, and improve emotional and behavioral functioning.

Participants are grouped by age and therapeutic need to ensure developmentally appropriate care. Most youth attend programming 2 to 4 days per week, with sessions held Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Services are delivered in a supportive, trauma-informed environment and include individual therapy, group sessions, skill-building activities, and family involvement as appropriate.

The Day Treatment program offers a vital level of care for youth who need more than traditional outpatient therapy but do not require inpatient treatment—providing structure, connection, and meaningful progress toward wellness.

    Prevention
At New Concepts, our Prevention Program is designed to empower youth and families with the knowledge, skills, and support they need to make healthy choices and build resilience before serious challenges arise. Rooted in evidence-based practices, our prevention services focus on reducing the risk of substance use and behavioral health concerns by promoting emotional well-being, positive decision-making, and strong connections.

We deliver prevention programming in schools, community centers, and family settings, reaching youth in environments where early support can have the greatest impact. Our approach is interactive, age-appropriate, and culturally responsive, helping young people develop self-awareness, confidence, and coping strategies.
    Program components may include:
    • Substance use prevention education.
    • Social-emotional learning and life skills training.
    • Peer leadership and mentoring opportunities.
    • Parent and caregiver workshops.
    • Community events and outreach.
    • Collaboration with schools, law enforcement, and local organizations.
By addressing risk factors early and building on individual and community strengths, the Prevention Program helps lay the foundation for long-term health, academic success, and positive youth development.
  • Substance Use Treatment
At New Concepts, our Substance Use Treatment Program provides individualized, evidence-based care for individuals and families struggling with substance use and co-occurring behavioral health challenges. We understand that substance use affects every aspect of a person’s life—and recovery requires support that is compassionate, nonjudgmental, and responsive to each individual’s unique needs.

Our program is designed to meet clients where they are on their recovery journey, whether they are seeking early intervention, outpatient support, or a step-down from a higher level of care. Services are delivered by licensed professionals with expertise in substance use disorders, trauma, and behavioral health, using a holistic and trauma-informed approach.

    Medication Assisted Treatment
At New Concepts, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) is offered in combination with our Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Non-Intensive Outpatient (NIOP) programs to support individuals with a physiological dependence on opioids. MAT provides a critical foundation for recovery by helping to reduce the intensity of withdrawal symptoms and cravings, making it possible for individuals to fully engage in the therapeutic aspects of treatment.

By incorporating medications alongside counseling and support services, MAT allows clients to stabilize both physically and emotionally while working toward long-term recovery. This integrated approach enhances treatment outcomes and promotes a more sustainable path to wellness.

    Program Requirements:
    • All clients participating in MAT must also be actively engaged in treatment services, typically beginning at the IOP level.
    • Clients must remain under the care of a prescribing physician throughout the duration of their medication regimen.
    • Ongoing medical oversight is required, including weekly follow-up appointments to monitor progress, ensure safety, and support individualized care plans.

Our MAT program is delivered in a supportive, stigma-free environment, with the goal of helping individuals reclaim control of their lives and build a strong foundation for lasting recovery
  • Court Referrals
New Concepts work closely with courts, probation officers, diversion programs, and other legal system partners to ensure individuals receive the appropriate care and resources to support their stability and long-term success. Services may include assessment, substance use treatment, counseling, case management, and life skills development. Our goal is to promote accountability and personal growth while helping individuals reduce recidivism, strengthen community connections, and build healthier, more fulfilling lives.

    Early Intervention Class
New Concepts offers an Early Intervention Class designed for individuals who are at risk of developing substance use issues or have had an initial encounter with the legal system, school discipline, or concerning behavior related to alcohol or drug use.

This short-term educational program focuses on increasing awareness, building decision-making skills, and preventing the progression of risky behaviors. It is ideal for those who may not meet the criteria for clinical treatment but would benefit from structured support and guidance.
Key components of the class include:
    • Early Intervention.
    • Exploration of personal values, goals, and consequences.
    • Skill-building in communication, peer pressure resistance, and self-regulation.
    • Motivational activities to encourage behavior change.
    • Opportunities for reflection and personal accountability.
Classes are facilitated by trained professionals in a supportive, non-judgmental environment and may be offered in group settings over several sessions. Participation can be voluntary or court/school-referred as part of diversion or prevention programming.

The Early Intervention Class is a proactive step that empowers individuals to make informed, healthier choices before patterns of substance use become deeply rooted.
  • Trauma-Responsive Certified Organization
Being trauma-responsive means we acknowledge that many individuals we serve—whether clients, families, or staff—may have experienced trauma that affects their emotional, physical, and psychological well-being. Our approach is rooted in compassion, safety, and trust, with the goal of avoiding re-traumatization and promoting healing.

New Concepts is proud to be a Trauma-Responsive Care Certified Organization, reflecting our strong commitment to understanding, recognizing, and responding to the widespread impact of trauma. This certification signifies that our organization has undergone extensive training, evaluation, and implementation of practices to ensure our services are delivered in a safe, supportive, and empowering environment.
    As a trauma-responsive agency, we:
    • Create welcoming and inclusive spaces that prioritize emotional and physical safety.
    • Use strength-based, person-centered language and practices.
    • Integrate trauma awareness into all levels of service delivery and organizational culture.
    • Provide ongoing staff training in trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and self-regulation strategies.
    • Empower individuals to actively participate in their own care and recovery.
    • Promote resilience, connection, and hope throughout every step of the service experience.
This certification reinforces our belief that healing occurs through relationships, and every interaction is an opportunity to support growth, recovery, and well-being.
